Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy takes effect on the date you first create an account on Newswire Asia. Last updated 24 May 2026.
1. Who we are
Newswire Asia ("we", "us", "our") is a press release distribution service operating from Taiwan. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect from you, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it.
2. What we collect
When you create an account and use the Service, we collect:
- Account credentials — your email address and (if you use email/password sign-in) a hashed password.
- Profile information you choose to provide — your full name, company name, company logo URL, company boilerplate, contact name, contact email, contact phone, and company website URL.
- Press release content — the headlines, body text, featured image URLs, and the intake inputs (announcement, key facts, optional quote, industry, tone) you submit to generate or edit a press release.
- Distribution choices — which journalists you select to contact, which partner sites you publish to, and which language network you target.
- Payment records — when you purchase a plan or package, PayPal's order ID, capture ID, currency, amount, and status. We do not receive or store your full credit card number — that is handled entirely by PayPal.
- Usage records — timestamps of releases generated, journalist contacts revealed, emails sent, and posts published. These are used to enforce monthly tier limits.
- Cookies — a single authentication session cookie that keeps you logged in. We do not use third-party analytics cookies, behavioural tracking pixels, or advertising cookies.
3. How we use what we collect
We use your information to:
- Provide the Service: generate AI press release drafts, deliver your outreach emails to journalists you select, publish your releases to the partner sites you select, and show you reports on what we sent.
- Maintain your account: authenticate logins, enforce your tier limits, and contact you about your account when necessary.
- Process payments via PayPal.
- Comply with legal obligations (e.g., tax records).
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use your press release content to train AI models on behalf of third parties.
4. What we share, and with whom
Your information is shared only in the specific cases below:
- Journalists you contact. Your outreach emails are delivered to the journalist email addresses you select. The email includes your release content, your company boilerplate, and the contact information from your profile (so journalists can reply to you). Replies go directly to your contact email, not back through us.
- Partner news sites you publish to. When you publish a release, its title, body, featured image URL, and your company boilerplate are sent to those WordPress sites and posted there. Once published, the post lives on the partner site under their control.
- Service providers we use (listed in section 5).
- Payment processing. PayPal receives the information they need to charge and confirm your payment. We never see or store your card number.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by Taiwan law, court order, or government request.
We do not track or measure journalist responses, opens, or clicks — once a release is sent, what happens next is between you and the journalist.
5. Service providers (sub-processors)
We use the following third-party services to run Newswire Asia. Each is contractually bound to protect your data and use it only to provide their service to us.
- Supabase — database, authentication, file storage. Hosts your account, profile, releases, and usage records.
- Vercel — application hosting and content delivery. Serves the Newswire Asia web app.
- Google Gemini — AI press release drafting. Receives your intake inputs (announcement, key facts, quote, industry, tone) to generate a draft.
- Resend — transactional email delivery. Sends your outreach emails to journalists.
- PayPal — payment processing.
We do not knowingly transfer your data to any other party.
6. How long we keep it
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we will delete or anonymise your profile, account credentials, and unsent draft press releases within 90 days of your request.
We will retain longer:
- Press releases that were sent or published. Once a release has been distributed to journalists or posted to partner sites, we keep an immutable record of it indefinitely. We cannot delete the copies that have already been delivered or published, and we keep our own record for legal and audit purposes.
- Payment records. Transaction records are retained for the period required by Taiwan tax and accounting law (currently five years).
- Aggregated, non-identifying analytics — we may keep summary metrics (e.g., total releases generated) that no longer identify you.
7. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate information through your profile page or by contacting us.
- Delete your account and associated data, subject to the retention exceptions in section 6.
- Export a copy of the data you've submitted (drafts, profile information, contact list).
- Withdraw consent for any optional processing — though doing so may make it impossible for us to continue providing the Service.
To exercise any of these rights, email op@newswire.asia with your request. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Security
We protect your data using industry-standard measures:
- All traffic to Newswire Asia uses HTTPS (TLS encryption).
- Account passwords are stored as one-way hashes, never in plain text.
- Database access is restricted by row-level security so accounts can only access their own data.
- Payment information is handled entirely by PayPal — we never receive your card number.
No system is perfectly secure. If we discover a data breach affecting your information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
9. Children
Newswire Asia is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us at op@newswire.asia so we can delete the account.
10. International data transfers
Newswire Asia is operated from Taiwan, but several of the service providers in section 5 are based in or operate from other jurisdictions (notably the United States and the European Union). By using the Service, you understand that your data may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in those jurisdictions, which may have different data protection rules than Taiwan.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced by email to your account address or by an in-app notice. The "last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
12. Contact
Questions, data requests, or complaints about this Privacy Policy can be sent to op@newswire.asia.
